How to make your resume here

1. Choose the language and design. Most companies expect an English resume. Pick Simple (ATS) for large companies and job portals, or Classic or Modern when a person will read it.
2. Fill in each section. The preview on the right (below on a phone) updates as you type, and everything is saved on your phone automatically.
3. Download the PDF. Tap "Download PDF" and choose Save as PDF in the print window. The PDF has real text, so job portals can read it.

What to put in each section

• Name and contact: your full name, a mobile number you answer, a professional email (such as firstname.lastname@gmail.com) and your city. A full home address is not needed.
• Profile: two or three lines saying who you are, what you have done and the job you want. Change it for each job you apply to.
• Work experience: newest job first. Under each job, write 2–4 points that start with an action and include a number where you can: "Filed monthly GST returns for 40 clients" says more than "Handled GST work".
• Education: highest qualification first, with the year and your marks or CGPA.
• Skills: the software, tools and abilities the job advertisement asks for, such as Tally, MS Excel, driving licence or typing speed.

Resume for freshers

If you have no work experience yet, leave that section empty and use More sections instead:

• Projects and internships: your final-year project, an internship or a summer job, with one or two lines on what you did.
• Certifications and courses: MS-CIT, Tally, typing, spoken English, NPTEL or other courses.
• Achievements: a rank, a prize, NSS/NCC, sports or a college event you organised.

One page is enough for a fresher. With 5+ years of experience, two pages are fine.

What is ATS, and why choose the Simple design?

Many companies and job portals first pass resumes through software called an ATS (applicant tracking system), which reads the text and searches it for the skills in the job advertisement. Tables, columns, pictures and unusual fonts can confuse it. The Simple design is one column of plain text, and the PDF made here contains real text, not a picture of text, so an ATS can read every word. Use the exact words from the job advertisement in your skills and experience.

Photo, personal details and declaration

Indian resumes often include a photo, date of birth, marital status and a declaration at the end. None of these is required:

• Photo: fine for many Indian private jobs if it is a clear, formal photo; leave it out for jobs abroad and for large companies that ask you not to.
• Personal details: add them only if the job asks for them (common for government and some local jobs).
• Declaration: often expected for government jobs. The tool adds the standard sentence, the place and today's date.
